Scoliosis

Exploring the disability Scoliosis (curve in the spinal column). I have lived with Scoliosis most of life, having the corrective operation 6 years ago. Since then I have been working with the theme of disability, pain and the shame I associated with the condition. Using my artwork I want to see beauty in uniqueness and delve deeper into the ideas of the spine holding a spiritual message from the past.

Clay pots, 12 in total

Created on the potter’s wheel, each pot responded to the dominant side of my back, causing a lean or distortion. This made each pot flawed but unique and beautiful in it’s own way.
